Dry Eyes Syndrome

Dry eyes syndrome is characterized by eye irritation resulting from a change in tear film. It can either result from decreased tear production as in many diseases or it can be a effect of  some external factors like use of contact lenses or excessive use of computers.

SYMPTOMS :-

A person with dry eyes typically complains of

  1. Itching
  2. Burning
  3. Redness
  4. Tiredness of eyes
  5. Foreign body sensation
  6. Photo phobia sometimes
Usually the symptoms progress over the day with relief after a good night's sleep.

CAUSES :-

  • Extended contact lens use.
  • Long working hours on computer.
  • Post lasik surgery.
  • Drivers exposed to excessive air.
  • Then there are disorders like sjogren's syndrome which causes dry eyes.

TREATMENT :-

  1. The best thing one can do is blink more frequently while working on computer. The normal blink rate is 15 -18 per minute but we forget that while staring at computer.
  2. Use contact lens judiciously with adequate breaks in between.
  3. Use artificial tear preparations which are preservative free. They can be used without any harm for sometime. If it still persist then a visit to an Ophthalmologist is necessary.

Lice

Lice infestation on the human body is very common especially on hair, and they feast on extremely small amounts of blood drawn from the scalp. Although they may sound gross, they are a very
common problem, especially for kids ages 3 to 15 years. Lice infestation is generally an itchy and embarrassing experience than a serious medical problem. They do not jump or fly from one host to other host. They can do not transfer via animals but may be transferred by person to person by direct contact or may transfer by using caps, combs, sheets of the infected person.
Lice eggs called as nits. They look like tiny yellow, brown or tan dots before they hatch. Lice lay nits on hair shafts close to the scalp, because the temperature of this place is perfect for keeping them warm until they hatch. Nits look alike dandruff but only the difference between them is that nits can not be removed by brushing or shaking them off.
Until the infestation is heavy, it is more common to see nits in a child's hair than it is to see live lice crawling on the scalp. Usually lice eggs hatch with in 1 to 2 weeks time after they are laid. After hatching, the remaining shell looks white or clear but still continues to stick firmly to the hair shaft. They are easily spotted in this stage. As the hair continues to grow longer, the egg shell is moves further away from the scalp.

                         10 drops lemon oil

Make Your Own Shampoo

Well, before I get into exactly how to make your own shampoo, just want to stress on the reason why one should consider this option. Making your own shampoo is safe for you and your family as you are going to use natural ingredients that doesn't contain the list of toxins that
store brands include. Having strong, beautiful hair doesn't require exotic hair treatments, and does not necessarily cost a fortune. Simple, homemade products can keep your hair healthy and full of shine. And they are easier to make  but do not except shampoo to lather like commercial brands because they all contain lathering agents. We have become so used to thinking that lathering means cleaning, but that is not true. While your homemade shampoo may not make a head full of lather, still it will clean, moisturize and wont harm your hair.

             2 tbsp aloe vera juice
             1 tbsp glycerin soap piece

             1/2 cup water

  • Mix all the above ingredients together in a container.
  • Keep this container on low flame for 10 minutes.
  • Don't forget to stir it continuously.
  • Let it cool down on its own.
  • Filter it with filter cloth.
  • Use it as you use shampoo in your hair.

REFRESH YOUR LOOK ONCE A WEEK

To keep your face looking as youthful as possible, you need proper skin care. For this
once a week facial is must. The purpose of a facial is to improve circulation, deep-cleanse, smooth and moisturize the skin. A complete facial includes a cleansing, steam, exfoliation, blackhead removal, mask, toner and moisturizer.
How you care for your skin is utterly dependent on the type of skin you have : oily, normal / combination, dry sensitive.

THE BASIC 7-STEP SKINCARE REGIMEN :-

STEP 1 :-

Cleanser remove make-up and impurities from the surface of the skin. It clean your skin hydrate, leave
a radiant, silky and healthy complexion. Take a small amount of cleanser which suits your skin, apply it over your entire face and neck massage it gently for 1 minute in a circular motion. Then rinse your face with water, followed by a refreshing toner.
It soften and remove dead skin cells, which allows more effective absorption of other skin care products.

STEP 2 :-

Exfoliation makes skin smooth and regular use of this removes the build-up of the hard keratin layer and allows better absorption of other skin care products. Take a small amount of it on your palm apply evenly on your face and gently scrub it on your skin until it dries. Leave it for 5 to 10 minutes and then rinse your face.
In one of my earlier post I have already mentioned about natural dry fruits scrub, so you can use that also its one of my best formulation. It really nourishes our skin and its not harsh like those ready made scrubs.

STEP 3 :-

Steaming the facial skin is a wonderful way to open the skin pores and remove the dirt. If you have one of those home steamers, then its great, but if you don't have then just just fill a medium container with hot water, place your face over it and cover up with a towel for 5 to 10 minutes. Try to cover properly so steam won't escape. Be careful to avoid hot water burns. This procedure opens up your pores for the next step.

STEP 4 :-

After taking steam skin becomes soft, so it becomes easy to remove blackheads. Gently remove blackheads if you have but don't just squeeze them! You can use either a blackhead extractor or one of those nose strips that you stick on your nose and wait for 10 to 15 minutes, then peel off.

STEP 5 :-

Face mask, after all these steps use face mask according to your skin or requirements like for glow, fairness, nourishment etc. If you want to go for home made face mask you can visit my previous posts. I have covered most of all face masks for different type of skin, functions, treatments.

STEP 6 :-

Toners refresh and balance the skin pH. Apply toner over entire cleansed skin with a help of cotton boll and leave on. Use toner twice a day after cleansing or mask to refresh your skin. Finish with serum and moisturizer.

STEP 7 :-

Moisturizers hydrate and soften skin. Even oily skin needs a light moisturizer to maintain softness and suppleness. So use moisturizer according to your skin type.

NIGHT Skin Care

We know it's easy to follow morning skin care routine, but when it comes to the end of the day we are too tired to look after our skin. But the problem with that is our skin is carrying pollution,
make up, oil and germs. So its as important as Day skin care.
The benefits of a Night skin care routine include improving skin tone and color , reduce skin blemishes , hydrating and rejuvenating the skin. It allows the skin to breath, heal and restore to a healthy young glow.

circles problem or puffiness use it. Take a drop of cream on your ring fingers and massage it in between fingers then gently pat under your eye area. Give it a gentle 10 seconds massage
Because there are no oil glands around the eye, using eye cream on the skin around eye restore the skin and reduce puffiness and dark circles.

  STEP 4 -

If your skin is feeling on the dry side, apply a thin layer of light oil-free Moisturizing Gel before going to bed. If however, my skin feels comfortable or a bit oily that day, I will skip this step.

   STEP 5 -

Gently wash your lips with warm on a soft cloth. This will remove any dry and dead skin. Apply a lip balm to soften and heal chapped lips.

And when it comes to sleep be sure to change your pillow covers on a regular basis, as dirt trapped in fabric can cause irritation and breakouts.

                                            AS NEEDED :-

  • If you have any acne spots and use a acne clearing cream on affected area so you can use it after all the above steps.
  • If you want you can use natural face mask on daily basis to keep your skin health

My DAY Skin Care Routine

This is not a vanity; its a basic fundamental maintenance for our skin. As we all know we are so used to wearing makeup, we live in a sunny country, we take hot showers, work in air
conditioning and sit in front of heaters. All these activities harm our skin daily, so we need to recover back what is damaged, and clean off what has been pushed into the skin, to calm down the ageing process.
One should drink lots of water but don't just gulp it drink slowly, eat healthy diet, exercise and be happy. When my skin is at it's best, it's because i am treating it nicely, remembering to exfoliate it after a long day of applying make up many times etc.

Skin care is very personal - there are so many products launching every month and lots of them are really worth buying. But we just cant buy all of them and narrowing down to one product can be difficult but the only way to find out if a product works on you, is to try it yourself remember take your time and listen to your skin.

                             MORNING SKIN CARE :-

STEP 1
First thing I do in the morning is wash my face with an anti-oxidant cleanser. They are very important as they help remove excess oil and impurities.

  • Here I am mentioning some home made cleansers, which you can put to use and as you already know they are without any negative effects.

                                Lemon juice            2 drops
                                Almond oil              2 drops

Mix all these ingredients and use this gel as we use cleanser. Wash your face with lukewarm water.

        2. FOR OILY SKIN :-

                                Aloe Vera juice    1 tbsp

                                Almond oil            4 drops

Mix all these ingredients and use this gel as we use cleanser. Wash your face with lukewarm water.

STEP 2 -
For me, toning is one of the most important step. I apply a toner as soon as I get out of my shower, because I feel it effects more when the pores are open.

STEP 3 -
If my skin is feeling on the dry side, I will apply a thin layer of Moisturizing Gel. If however, my skin feels comfortable or a bit oily that day, I will skip this step.

STEP 4 -
In recent years Eye care has become one of my top priorities and i rotate many eye creams. Some of them, I prefer to use at day and some specially for the night.
I apply my eye cream, while the toner on my is drying. I massage my eye product in between my ring fingers and gently pat onto my under eye area. Then i give it a gentle 10 seconds massage.

STEP 5 -
Lastly, if you want to apply make-up you can now otherwise you can just leave the house with sunscreen to protect your skin from sun damage.

                            EVENING SKIN CARE :-

STEP 1 -
Always do remember, when ever you are back from work first remove your eye makeup with eye
makeup remover. It should be non-irritating and easily gets rid of even waterproof makeup.

STEP 2 -
Then I remove the rest of my face makeup using face makeup remover. Use a gentle makeup remover, which don't leave any sort of residue behind.

STEP 3 -
Lastly, wash your face with your favorite cleanser.

  • You can use some home made face wash.
