NUTMEG (jayaphala)

                                 Nutmeg belongs to genus Myristica and the most important species is Myristica fragrans. It is native of the Banda islands of Indonesia. Now a days nutmeg is quite affordable but this
was not always the same case. A few hundred years ago, nutmeg was so expensive, that a small bag
of it was worth so much money, to make the owner financially independent for the rest of his life.                                                            
              Nutmeg was used in some dishes as a spice also. It is also used in small amounts as a medicine for infants as a digestive stimulant. High dose of nutmeg can be toxic so pregnant women should avoid nutmeg. It has been traditionally known as a mood elevator. 
                                        And the best part is that nutmeg can be used as a content to make some of the most effective and vital face masks. 

PROPERTIES :-

  • It helps to improve your concentration.
  • Nutmeg oil is use to relieve the pain when applied to the affected areas.
  • It helps in problems like constipation, diarrhea and flatulence.
  • It exfoliates dead skin cells and makes skin flawless skin
  • It improves appetite and also digestion
  • It helps get rid of bad breath. Reason of bad breath is presence of bacteria in mouth so nutmeg kills these bacteria.
  • It helps to achieve smoother and healthier skin.
  • It removes blackheads and acne marks
  • It removes excess oil from skin.

    USE OF NUTMEG IN DIFFERENT MASKS -

            
1) FOR SOFT SKIN -

                               Pinch of nutmeg powder
                               1 tablespoon milk
                               2 drops of mustard oil












  • Add all the above ingredients 
  • Apply this on your face 
  • Leave it for 10 to 15 min
  • Rinse with lukewarm water

     
2) FOR GLOWING SKIN -

                                 Pinch of nutmeg powder
                                 Pinch of turmeric (haldi) powder
                                 1 tablespoon sandal powder
                                  Milk

  • Mix all the above ingredients in a bowl
  • Add milk to make a thin paste of it
  • Apply evenly on your face
  • Leave it for 10 to 15 min
  • Rinse it with lukewarm water


  
  3) ALL-IN-ONE  MASK -

                             2 slices of orange
                             Pinch of nutmeg
                             2 to 3 drops of rose water
                             1 to 2 petals of saffron
                             1 to 2 drops of mustard oil
                             1 tablespoon fullers earth (multani mitti)


  • Squeeze out orange juice in a bowl
  • Add all the above ingredients 
  • Mix it thoroughly
  • Apply this mask evenly on your face 
  • Leave it for 10 to 15 min
  • Wet your hands and gently massage 
  • Rinse it with water    

   
 4) FOR SKIN NOURISHMENT - 

                                 Pinch of nutmeg powder
                                 1 tbs red lentil (masoor dal) powder
                                 1/2 tbsp custard apple pulp (sitaphal)
                                 Rose water


  • Mix all the above ingredients
  • Add milk to make a thin paste of it
  • Apply this mask on your face
  • Leave it for 15 minutes
  • Rinse it with water
