BASIL(tulsi)

                                           This bush Basil belong to genus Ocimum and species Ocimum basilicum. There are different types of basil plants. The leaves are ovate shaped. These bushes are all free of any
harmful secretions; for the most part they are aromatic and fragrant. Hence these plants are not only used in medicines, but are also important as kitchen herbs.

                                                  In Hindu religion, basil plant is considered very pious. Due to the medicinal properties of this bush, it is used in Ayurveda for various purposes. The leaves are usually dried and used in cosmetics, medicines and in preparing delicacies.          


PROPERTIES :-

  • It contains antibacterial compounds because of which its a good cleanser.
  • It cleans and detoxify our skin
  • It adds that extra glow to your face which was missing.
  • It helps prevent acne and blemishes 
  • It improves blood circulation
  • It reduces severity of cough and flu.
  • It also treats respiratory diseases i.e allergies, asthma 
  • Oil of this bush act as an analgesic and relieves pain.
  • Leaves of this bush is very effective in mouth ulcer. 


USE OF BASIL IN DIFFERENT MASKS :-

1) FOR FAIRNESS -

                    1/4 th tbsp basil leaves powder
                    1/4 th tbsp orange juice
                    1/4 th tbsp liquorice (mulethi) powder
                    2 drops of sesame oil
                    1 tbsp red lentil (masoor dal) powder
                    Rose water


  • Add all the above ingredients in a bowl
  • Mix rose water to make a thin paste of it
  • Apply this mask evenly on your face
  • Leave it for 15 min 
  • Rinse it with water 


2) FOR SKIN NOURISHMENT -

                  1/4 th tbsp basil leaves paste
                  1/4 th tbsp indian gooseberry (amla) juice
                  1/4 th tbsp liquorice (mulethi) powder
                  2 drops of sesame oil
                  1 tbsp red lentil (masoor dal) powder
                  Rose water


  • Add all the above ingredients in a bowl
  • Mix rose water to make a thin paste of it
  • Apply this mask evenly on your face
  • Leave it for 15 min 
  • Rinse it with water 


3) FOR ACNE AND SKIN TAN -

                    1/4 th tbsp basil leaves powder
                    1/4 th tbsp orange juice
                    1/4 th tbsp liquorice (mulethi) powder
                    Pinch of turmeric powder
                    2 drops of sesame oil
                    1 tbsp red lentil (masoor dal) powder
                    Rose water


  • Add all the above ingredients in a bowl
  • Mix rose water to make a thin paste of it
  • Apply this mask evenly on your face
  • Leave it for 15 min 
  • Rinse it with water 


4) FOR INSTANT GLOW -

                    1/4 th tbsp basil leaves juice
                    1/4 th tbsp orange juice
                    1/4 th tbsp liquorice (mulethi) powder
                    Pinch of nutmeg powder
                    2 drops of sesame oil
                    1 tbsp red lentil (masoor dal) powder
                    Rose water


  • Add all the above ingredients in a bowl
  • Mix rose water to make a thin paste of it
  • Apply this mask evenly on your face
  • Leave it for 15 min 
  • Rinse it with water 


5) BODY SCRUB -

              1 tbsp basil leaves powder
              1 tbsp orange powder
              1 tbsp Indian lilac (neem) powder
              1/4 th tbsp sesame oil
              3 tbs gram flour (besan)
              Rose water

  • Add all the above ingredients in a bowl
  • Mix rose water to make a thin paste of it
  • Use this paste like body wash
  • Gently scrub this on your body
  • Then have bath
